users already earning from their unused internet
How it works
A DePIN network connecting millions of devices
Grass is a decentralized physical infrastructure network. It combines the unused bandwidth of millions of users' internet connections around the world into a single resource, provided to verified organizations for accessing public web data.
Highway analogy. Your internet is a multi-lane highway. Most of the time you occupy one or two lanes, while the rest sit empty. Grass is a digital toll booth allowing other cars to use your free lanes for a fee.
What happens in practice
1
Install. Download the Grass app (desktop, Android, Chrome extension) and create an account.
2
Connect. The app runs in the background, your device becomes a node of the global network.
3
Data transfer. Requests from verified organizations route through your IP, using your unused bandwidth.
4
Point accrual. For every moment your connection contributes to the network, you earn Grass Points — continuously, in real time, not once per hour.
Important. Grass does not have access to your personal files, passwords, or browsing history. It uses only the idle part of your internet connection to access public websites.
Devices
Which device earns more points
The network assigns each client type its own multiplier for Uptime Points (time online) and Network Points (traffic transferred).
📱
Android app
Uptime Points: 3x (temporarily, at launch). Network Points: 10x.
💻
Desktop app
Windows, macOS, Ubuntu. Uptime Points: 2x. Network Points: 5x.
🌐
Chrome extension
Uptime Points: 1x (base). Network Points: standard.
Android is the king of earnings. Since the Android app launched in July 2025, users have been earning triple Uptime Points compared to desktop. By the end of the second season, Android devices became the most profitable device type in the network.
Why? Mobile devices are almost always with you and almost always online. A desktop sits at home and idles. The Android app uses only 5–10% of battery over a full day.
Key rule. The network limits rewards per internet connection, not per device. Running multiple clients on the same router won't double your points — it just splits one connection. Optimal: one device per unique connection.
Mobile network
To pay for mobile data or not
One of the most common questions. If you have unlimited mobile internet and already pay for the plan — does it make sense to run Grass on mobile?
Short answer: possibly yes, but it's your decision.
Arguments for
- If you have an unlimited plan you pay for anyway, you lose nothing — Grass uses only the unused part of the channel.
- Mobile devices (especially Android) give 3x Uptime Points and 10x Network Points — the highest multiplier in the network.
- If you already pay for mobile service, it makes sense that part of that money comes back through rewards.
Arguments against
- Grass does not guarantee the reward will cover the cost of mobile traffic.
- A mobile network may be less stable than home Wi-Fi — this affects your priority in the network.
Conclusion. If you have an unlimited plan and are willing to experiment — try it. If your plan is limited — start with home Wi-Fi. The decision is yours: Grass gives you the tool but doesn't impose a strategy.
